About me and my practice

I work as an integrative counsellor which means that my practice is influenced by a variety of approaches, including humanistic, psychodynamic, existential, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy. Working in this way enables me to tailor my approach to meet your individual needs as best I can, whilst respecting your own pace and depth of the counselling process.

The core aspect of my approach is to work on building a trusting relationship and supportive environment, and to help you feel as comfortable as possible in exploring any thoughts or feelings that may arise.

Experience

Through working in a variety of roles within special needs and mainstream schools for over ten years, I was fortunate enough to be part of different multi-disciplinary teams, and felt hugely inspired and influenced by the therapists who I worked alongside. After taking some time out to travel, and through having my own therapeutic experiences I decided to embark on the journey of becoming a counsellor & psychotherapist. I completed a BSc (Hons) in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Roehampton, and since then have undertaken additional training in areas including School & Adolescent Counselling, Working with Neurodiversity in Therapy, DBT, CBT, and Online & Telephone Counselling.

I have worked as a counsellor for young people and adults in a variety of settings including mental health charities, carers organisations, health centres, schools and colleges. I moved from London in 2018 and set up private practice offering counselling and psychotherapy. I am committed to my role as a counsellor and to developing my therapeutic practice, so I regularly participate in additional training around various issues including anxiety, depression, anger, stress, trauma, bereavement, self esteem, mindfulness & self soothing strategies, attachment styles, personality disorders, self harm and eating disorders. I place great value on learning from other professionals so I continue to engage in regular professional development workshops, training and supervision.

Initial Consultation

If you are looking for a counsellor and decide to get in contact, then the first step would be to arrange an initial counselling session. This session is an opportunity for you to get a feel for the process and to decide if you would like to continue. There is no pressure to commit to continuing; the most important thing is that you find a counsellor who is right for you, and who you feel able to trust and connect with. If you did choose to continue, we would arrange a regular time to meet each week and each session would last for up to 1 hour. The counselling process is unique to each individual and can be short or long term, but is reviewed during our work together.
